Adam Scavette

Adam Scavette is a regional economist at the Baltimore branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, where he engages in economic analysis of Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. His research interests include urban economics, evidence-based public policy, and labor economics. Scavette's recent projects have explored broadband access, the economic effects of opioid use, and place-based economic development policies.

Prior to joining the Richmond Fed in 2022, Scavette spent 10 years in the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia where he conducted regional analysis of the Third District, which includes Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Scavette produced their Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey (also known as the "Philly Fed Index") and oversaw regional economic forecasting. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in public policy at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. He has a master's degree in statistics from the University of Pennsylvania, a master's degree in economics from the University of Edinburgh, and a bachelor's degree in economics from Villanova University.
